Acura to Reveal All-Electric RSX SUV Prototype at Monterey Car Week

Mid-August’s Monterey Car Week in California is where the wealthiest and bravest car geeks on the planet meet to show off and race their irreplaceable historic vehicles. For attendees who simply define “wealth” as never missing a mortgage payment and adopting new technology, there will also be a more attainable attraction: the Acura RSX electric vehicle prototype.

Revealed in camouflage earlier this year, the new RSX is no longer the sports compact car of early-2000s teenage dreams. Now a sleek electric SUV, the upcoming model is the first EV to be designed in-house by Honda (the current ZDX is based on GM’s Ultium EV platform) and will be built at Honda’s new EV factory in Ohio.
The Monterey attraction will provide fans with their first look at the RSX prototype. Based on the normal production-car bits like door handles and real mirrors visible even on the camouflaged vehicle, we don’t expect the production version of the new RSX will look terribly different from what Acura unveils in Monterey — but we also don’t expect many final details to accompany the reveal. Acura says sales of the RSX won’t start until the second half of 2026, so stay tuned for future updates as we learn more about the new electric SUV.
